What a shame this game freezes regularly. I've emailed support but received no reply. At the moment the game looks good, sounds good, is amusing and fun … and then it breaks. And that's no fun at all.

Which support? And how long did you wait for a response?

Hi - email sent via the support page of inXile (http://www.inxile-en...ent.com/support). It is at least two weeks since I sent the email.
I've also tried the code cheat suggested on their Mac support page (http://www.inxile-en...-bards-tale-mac) for stuck conversations. It accepts the code (wupeg@new) and the black lines disappear, but the game still freezes at the same point. No other buttons or controls are revealed.

Dang
I did some wide searches and didn't come up with any other solutions either. Buggy games are annoying, and frustrating especially when they are just good enough to keep you pressing onward. Sorry their support isn't being very responsive on the issues. Wish I knew what else to suggest!

Thanks for trying, Frigidman! Their website says they are trying to work out a fix, so we'll see. I'll check back in a couple of months. It's not an expensive game, so it's not a big deal, but it needs to work better than this. I only got about an hour's play out of it

A development. I've bought a new iMac, and the game runs on it - but not flawlessly. It still freezes on occasion (a problem the developer is aware of, as shown on their Mac support web page) and even on a brand new, very fast machine it runs slowly on max resolution setting. So, it works but only just. I think the specifications for the game are too generous - owners of older, slower Macs will struggle. It's a shame as it's a great, fun game.

Well, thanks for reporting back. Sorry its running kinda bleah. I come across that on occasion with some games. Poorly optimized. A funny anecdote is that on my PC (yeah booooo!!!) it seems the older the game, the slower or worse it runs. Almost like the machine is too fast for the game for its own good. I wonder if that may be the case here. Where a slower machine may play the game smoother, than a faster one. Only speculation though.
As for crashes, well, yeah, thats just bad programming and not enough updates to cover the more prolific ones.
SAVE OFTEN.
