This is a great game but peters out soon after the official campaign is done with. There's a menu option leftover from the PC version to allow players to play scenarios designed and uploaded by other players, but Mac users cannot make use of it. The sandbox mode random island generator is a bad joke -- while you can technically control island size and farming/mineral values, it produces nothing but completely flat islands with a few perfectly level plateaus. No rolling hills or mountains, and thus sugar is often the only viable cash crop. Very disappointing for those of us who don't wish to play the same pre-loaded scenarios over and over.
Thankfully the game allows you to play the beautiful islands from the scenarios in sandbox mode, but even this is problematic. When you're choosing your island it forces you to select from a list of the islands' names and does not provide a preview, so unless you've memorized or written down the island names from the campaign you'll basically be choosing blind. Would a preview of each island have been so difficult to include when selecting them in sandbox mode? There's even a box on that screen that could be used for that purpose, but instead it shows a close-up of a beach scene that could be from any of the islands, and a useless descriptor (easy, medium, hard).
As I said, great game but I'd kill for an island generator similar to the one from the first Tropico instead of the severely nerfed version included here.
